Surf Coach
Parallel Surf is looking for a motivated, professional, and hands-on Surf Coach to lead, guide and support coachings and daily activities at our surf school located directly at Playa Encuentro on the north coast of the Dominican Republic - one of the most consistent surf breaks in Caribbean!

The Surf Coach is responsible for the overall delivery of the offered coaching services, daily surf operations, and the quality of the guest experience within our surf program. The Surf Coach holds operational responsibility for conducting and guiding surf lessons across all levels, while supporting the organization, structure, and continuous improvement of our surf school activities at Playa Encuentro. You’ll work hands-on in and out of the water, contribute to a consistent and safe coaching environment, support equipment management, and play an active role in shaping the overall surf experience - from instruction and guest interaction to the smooth execution of daily operations.
The Surf Coach works under general supervision of the Operations Manager.
Essential Functions
- Conduct and lead surf lessons across different levels, ensuring a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment
- Guide and manage day-to-day surf operations, including scheduling, coordination, and session flow
- Actively participate in all aspects of surf instruction, both in and out of the water, to ensure quality and consistency
- Monitor ocean conditions and make informed decisions to ensure safety at all times
- Conduct and lead surfskate lessons across different levels, ensuring a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment
- Conduct and support children group classes including surfing, surfskate, pool training and mobility
- Manage timing, flow, and overal execution effectively
- Maintain and organize equipment, ensuring boards, leashes, and storage areas are in proper condition
- Deliver a high standard of guest experience through professional interaction, clear communication, and attentive support
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and operational standards
- Support the continuous improvement of surf coaching practices and daily operations
- Assist in onboarding and supporting new instructors or team members as needed
Job Specifications:
Professional Experience
Minimum 2 year of of proven experience as a surf coach and instruction experience
Experience working in surf schools, camps, or structured coaching environments
Experience delivering one-on-one, high-intensity coaching sessions tailored to individual progression is an advantage
Experience in conducting video analys and teaching surf related theory
Prior experience in surfskate coaching preferred
Experience working with children in a structured and safe learning environment preferred
Experience contributing to the setup, organization, or development of a surf program and surf school operation is an advantage
Technical & Surf Skills

Level 1 or higher Surf Coaching Certificate by the ISA, ASI or equivalent

Lifeguard Certification

Surf ability with solid ocean awareness across varying conditions

Strong understanding of coaching fundamentals, progression techniques, and session structuring

Knowledge on ocean safety, surf conditions, and risk assessment

Additional coaching or sport science eductaion qualifications is a plus
Language Requirements

Highly proficient in spoken English
